Swallow Hill Farm occupies 142 acres of rolling Virginia countryside in beautiful Caroline County, which is located near historic Fredericksburg, VA (within easy reach of Central and Northern Virginia, the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Ashland and Richmond). We produce grass fed beef and lamb
for sale by the quarter, half and whole-share.

Swallow Hill Farm sells naturally raise, grass fed, dry aged, Angus beef by the quarter, half and whole-share. 

Family Owned & Operated

We are a family-owned and managed farm. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. We produce the highest quality beef and lamb, which is USDA inspected, dry-aged (beef only), vacuum packed and well labeled. In addition to eating healthy food from a known source, you will be supporting local agriculture when buying grass fed beef, lamb and pork from us.

Our Commitment to Doing What's Right

Our goal is to provide health-conscious members of our local community with safe, delicious, high quality, nutrient dense foods. No hormones, antibiotics or steroids are fed to or injected into our animals. Our cattle are never fed corn, soy or grain. We also treat our animals with respect and compassion to ensure they have the best possible lives while on the farm.

Beef Shares (1/4 and 1/2 shares). June 2024 Shares Available Now.

We sell our beef and lamb in the form of quarter, half or whole shares but rarely have beef shares available to the general public due to the high demand among existing customers.  Beef shares that are available each year are offered first to customers who have purchased beef shares in the previous 18-months.  If there are unreserved shares after that offering, we will send an invitation to our entire newsletter subscriber list.

Lamb: We've had difficulty getting lamb processed so we sold all our available lambs alive.  Since all lambs have been sold, we will not be restocked until more lambs are born and grow for 9-10 months. 

Grass Fed, Grass Finished Beef

We produce great tasting Angus beef! Our cattle are raised on grass, and unlike many grass fed beef operations, we finish our beef on high quality summer and winter annual forages. All of the forages consumed by our cattle are non-GMO. This results in added marbling, tenderness and flavor. Our beef is dry aged for two weeks to enhance the natural beef flavors and the tenderness of our beef. We always handle our cattle humanely using low stress techniques, which we feel results in happy animals and happy customers.

We are pleased to see that over 90% of our beef share sales were to repeat customers. We are told by many of our customers that "our beef is the best they have ever had"! We continue to strive toward producing the best tasting, naturally raised beef possible.

Lamb and Mutton

We also produce great tasting Lamb and Mutton! Our sheep are raised and finished on grass and other high quality forages. We always use low stress livestock handling techniques which we feel results in happy animals and happy customers.
